Join a school Local Governing Board, and use your skills, passion and talents to help ensure children flourish and are preapred for happy, fulfilled lives!
The Diocese of St Albans Multi Academy Trust is an inclusive Trust, working with schools in the Diocese of St Albans (the Local Authority areas of Hertfordshire, Bedford Borough, Central Bedfordshire, Luton, parts of the London Borough of Barnet and two parishes in Buckinghamshire). Our Trust works with Church of England and community schools that share our values and ethos, and a commitment to a broad education that prepares pupils for a happy, fulfilled life.
We have a clear vision about creating and maintaining successful schools that serve their unique local communities through the provision of a rich and diverse curriculum underpinned by Christian values which enables every child to flourish.
Underpinning all of the Trust’s work is a belief in educational excellence. Our academies are places where children and young people develop and thrive intellectually, socially, culturally and spiritually. All of the Trust’s schools teach a broad and balanced curriculum within national guidelines focusing on core skills. This is designed to ensure that all pupils reach their academic potential and seek to enrich their experience along the way. Pupils will be enabled to succeed in an atmosphere of high expectation, aspiring to educational excellence with a firm foundation of values.
Individual academies are governed at a local level by their own Local Governing Board (LGB) who have a level of delegated responsibility from the Directors.
This is a strategic role (an ‘eyes on, hands off’ approach!) and we are looking for individuals who are able to evaluate a wide range of information and are able to support, question and challenge with empathy and integrity.
We are looking for passionate, enthusiastic and committed individuals to join and support our local board. We need people who have a diverse range of skills, experiences, qualifications, characteristics and perspectives, who come from different backgrounds and settings which we believe strengthens the work of the board. We welcome applications from everyone and see the value of the different experiences and skills each applicant brings to the table.
By becoming a governor, you can influence decisions which have a direct impact on our pupils’ education. You can make a real difference to the lives of local children and ensure every child receives the education they deserve. The board acts collectively in the best interests of the students, ensuring the good conduct of the school and promoting high standards of education achievement.
You will be able to engage with educational challenge and be part of the solution, supporting the local community and improving life chances for children. It is an immensely rewarding role.
Please apply thought Reach in the first instance and we will arrange a call for an informal chat to find out more.
