Volunteer as a LIDN Executive Committee member (Mentorship Scheme Lead) to gain leadership experience, make connections, & shape the aid sector in London through our 15k strong network and fellow professionals.

What will you be doing?

We are recruiting an enthusiastic and motivated volunteer to join the London International Development Network’s (LIDN) Executive Committee, a small group of professionals, who lead activities and events for the LIDN community.

Members of the Executive Committee lead specific areas of LIDN activities or events, with significant agency to shape activities in their vision. They collaborate and coordinate with others in the Executive Committee, meeting on a monthly basis. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to lead our mentorship scheme.

The role will  involve helping pair mentors and mentees who have signed up to our mentorship scheme. The role will also involve chairing information calls (with other Committee Members) about the scheme and ensuring the guidance for the mentorship scheme is circulated to all future signups.

As well as leading on the successful operation of the LIDN mentoring scheme, as an Executive Committee member, you will also be expected to:

  • Attend monthly LIDN Executive Committee quarterly meetings
  • Collaborate with other core team members to plan and promote activities
  • Contribute to team planning and strategy
  • Estimated time commitment: average 8 hours per month, but this varies depending on what is happening. The role is  for 12 months, with the option to extend if desired.

This is a FANTASTIC role and you will be given a large amount of autonomy to make the role your own.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for volunteers who have:

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Professional experience in the international development sector (desirable)
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A passion for building a more progressive and inclusive development sector
  • Experience of community, partnerships or network building / management
  • The ability to join in-person quarterly meetings in central London

At LIDN, we are committed to ensuring underrepresented groups have voice and leadership in the international development sector, and we encourage people who identify with these groups to apply.

What difference will you make?

This is a great opportunity to gain leadership experience in the field of development, make new connections and to shape the development and aid sector in London through LIDN’s 15k strong network.
