IAD is looking for a Legal Advisor (voluntary position), to provide legal advice to IAD’s senior management and to the organisation as well as oversee legal processes. This role is expected to take 3-5 hours per week.

What will you be doing?

Objectives of this Role

  • Provide legal opinion and research as required
  • Continuously monitor compliance with legal obligation and advise management accordingly
  • Identify legal risks and ensure that where legal risks have been identified, appropriate courses of action have been taken
  • Review and draft contracts and agreements
  • Assess periodically the organisation’s need for particular legal skills in-house
  • Ensure consistent procedures and communication processes are in place to establish goals, clarify responsibilities, engage team members of the Legal team, utilise their strengths, share feedback and adjust plans

What are we looking for?

Skills and Qualifications

  • Passion for promoting democracy, rule of law and human rights as well as IAD’s mission
  • Knowledge of law and legal issues in Scotland/UK
  • Good planning and organisational skills and a proven ability to delicately solve sensitive matters
  • Ability to adjust quickly to change
  • Basic understanding of Google Workspace and collaboration tools on Google Docs
  • Track record of providing accurate and effective legal counsel
  • Previous experience of providing legal advice to a charity
  • Knowledge of the legal context in the EU
