Welcome to Reach Volunteering. We are a community and registered charity that connects people, skills and good causes.

To apply for this role, and any other on our platform, you need to be based in the UK, have at least three years of experience using the skills you wish to volunteer in a professional capacity or have lived experience (for trustee roles). Read more about our criteria.

We empower young people to harness their lived experiences & create transformative opportunities that help them grow, connect, and thrive. We are looking to diversify the skills on our board to provide support and guidance as we grow.

What will you be doing?

At Wot Wud U Do Educational Services, we believe in empowering individuals to thrive in every aspect of their lives. Our mission is to equip people with essential skills that transcend traditional education, focusing on social and emotional development, employability readiness, and the power of co-production. Through tailored programs and collaborative approaches, we cultivate a growth mindset in individuals, empowering them with the confidence needed to enhance emotional management and decision-making skills, thus enabling them to navigate life’s challenges effectively. By empowering young people to harness their lived experiences, we create transformative opportunities that help them grow, connect, and thrive.

We connect and engage with a diverse range of service users, primarily focusing on young people aged 11 to 25. Our primary users include students from various socio-economic backgrounds. We specifically target those at risk of social exclusion, including individuals experiencing behavioural challenges, academic difficulties, or coming from underserved communities. Additionally, we work closely with educators and parents to ensure a holistic approach to education and personal development. Our programs also extend support to youth involved in the juvenile justice system, aiming to provide them with the skills and knowledge needed to reintegrate successfully into society. We have delivered some short term projects and now moving to provide clear programme areas - 1, an alternative provision due to start in the Spring/Summer of 2025 and 2, community youth projects.

We are therefore seeking passionate and skilled individuals to join our Board of Directors. As we continue to grow, we want to diversify the expertise on our board to strengthen our impact. Whether you have experience in youth work, education, business, finance, fundraising, marketing, or governance, your skills could help shape the future of our organisation.

This is an opportunity to provide strategic support and guidance to our founding director as he drives forward his vision. By joining us, you’ll play a key role in ensuring Wot Wud U Do continues to create meaningful change for young people at risk of social exclusion.

We are particularly looking for people with skills in

  • HR
  • Finance
  • Governance

If you’re committed to making a difference and want to contribute your knowledge, we’d love to hear from you!

What are we looking for?

We welcome individuals from all backgrounds who share our passion for empowering young people. If you’re driven by social change and want to use your skills to make a difference, we’d love to hear from you! We are looking for individuals with diverse skills and expertise, however we are keen to recruit people who specifically have skills in:

  • HR - understanding of employment law, help with polices and contracts, recruitment, staff wellbeing
  • Finance - skills in financial management
  • Governance - understanding of governance, safeguarding, compliance, or legal frameworks relevant to a CIC and youth-focused organisation.

Other areas of work that would also be valuable for us would be experience in working with young people, particularly those at risk of social exclusion, and understanding their needs; knowledge of the education sector, curriculum development, or training programs that support employability and personal growth; skills in grant writing, income generation, or securing funding to support long-term sustainability; experience in business development, strategic planning, or running a social enterprise to help drive sustainability and growth;

If you have personal experience of overcoming challenges similar to those our young people face, then we would love to have a conversation (thought this is not essential)

Experience working in the non-profit sector is also desirable but not essential.

What difference will you make?

By joining our board, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of our organisation by bringing your expertise to support the founding director in setting annual objectives as well as supporting key areas as we employ staff and deliver more programmes.

Your support will help us to create opportunities for young people to develop essential life skills, build confidence, and take control of their futures and support us in tackling youth social exclusion by shaping programs that promote personal development, employability, and co-production.

Your support will provide insight and guidance to ensure we grow, to reach more young people, and remain innovative in our approach and help us maintain strong governance, financial health, and long-term sustainability to secure our future impact.
