Refugees at Home: a charity matching those with a spare room at home to asylum seekers and refugees needing accommodation.

Are you a CTO or CIO with experience of CRM software or other database products who can hit the ground running?

What will you be doing?

We will need you to further develop and implement our Data Strategy and work with the Operations Group of Trustees and Senior Manager as well as our IT support contractor and volunteers to improve our systems and ensure they remain fit for purpose.

Our tech stack includes:

  • Zoho Creator runs our core business, and has done since we began, as we evolve our strategy for the organisation more generally we will need to review whether our current solution remains the right one and think about how we evolve our database so that we are able to both keep our operations going and to measure the right things to help us know if we are on track for our future aspirations
  • G-suite for emails and document management
  • Google Maps also supplement our database, using an API from our Zoho database to provide additional ways for our staff and volunteers to interact with our information
  • Wordpress website, we are in the middle of switching our website over, but it’s still wordpress!
  • Moodle is relatively new to us, it will be used to run our training

You would need to be able to attend our monthly board meetings in London. The role is voluntary and part-time.

We estimate a time commitment of about 1-2 days a month.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who can come in and hit the ground running to help us with our IT.  You might be a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) or Chief Information Officer in a small-medium sized company, looking to take on your first board role or already work in the charity sector and be looking to expand your experience.

Ideally you will have had experience of review and migration of CRM-type software or other database products.

We will need you to further develop and implement our Data Strategy and work with the Operations Group of Trustees and Senior Manager as well as our IT support contractor and volunteers to improve our systems and ensure they remain fit for purpose.

Experience as a Trustee useful but not essential.

Ability to work in a team is essential.

What difference will you make?

To have leadership in the IT strategy and oversight of systems to ensure they remain fit for purpose is crucial to how we run the charity.  We are dependent on our IT to make placements, the raison-d'etre of Refugees at Home.  You will help ensure we can do so.

What's in it for the volunteer?

Membership of our friendly, well-run Board, a clear key role in supporting the charity both as IT lead and as a trustee.  An challenging and vital role, much needed and hence will be hugely appreciated.

Before you apply

For more information please contact us via Reach Volunteering. To apply, send a CV and up to 200 words about why you’d be a brilliant IT Trustee via Reach by 20 December 2019. We will also require you to fill out our volunteer form.
