We are a small charity with BIG ambitions! We've set ourselves some big objectives and we are committed to delivering on those. Bring your skills, energy and commitment to help us raise awareness of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leaks.

What will you be doing?

We are looking for a hands-on IT & Digital Trustee to deliver on our IT strategy and provide hands-on support.

The trustee will be responsible for Microsoft365 administration with the support of our admin volunteers, management of our website agency and website, management of supporting IT systems (Password Manager), and support to day-to-day admin processes such as mailbox management and resolving technical issues.

Our organisation is run by trustees, supported by volunteers. Everyone brings with them a diverse range of skills and experience from a variety of professional backgrounds. We have the support and work with a team of medical professionals in this field from around the UK and globally through our Medical Advisory Committee.

The strategic oversight of the CSF Leak Association, as well as its day-to-day running, is undertaken by a Board of Trustees.  Currently there are 5 Trustees but given the growth of the organisation and its future ambitions we are seeking to grow this number. We meet virtually every other month and communicate by Teams/Email throughout.

Role of a Trustee

  1. Together with the other Trustees, to ensure that the Association functions within the legal, charitable and financial requirements of a charitable organisation and strives to achieve best practice.
  2. To develop the Association’s business plan, to monitor progress towards achieving strategic goals and to ensure that it pursues its objectives in keeping with that plan.
  3. To contribute actively in giving direction to the Association.
  4. To act in the best interests of the charity and its beneficiaries at all times.
  5. To ensure the effective and efficient administration of the Association, ensuring its financial stability
  6. To use any specific skills, knowledge and experience to help the Board of Trustees reach sound decisions (this will include the scrutiny of proposals, leading and initiating discussions, providing advice or guidance on new initiatives and utilising any specialist expertise and experience).

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a trustee with experience in IT and Digital, specifically:

  • Hands-on Microsoft365 administration and CMS administration
  • Knowledge of Password Managers
  • Knowledge of Payment Processing Platforms
  • Experience with managing vendors
  • General IT experience

Interested candidates will be able to demonstrate:

  1. A strong personal commitment to:-

(a) the ambition and values of the Association; and

(b) promoting the interests of leak sufferers

  1. A capacity to contribute actively to the strategic direction of the Association
  2. Confident and effective communication and influencing skills.
  3. A track record of effective, independent, decision making.
  4. An understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship.
  5. The ability and commitment to work effectively as part of a remote team that makes collective decisions and to accept collective responsibility for decision making.
  6. Personal credibility, with an ability to act as a champion for the Association with a variety of stakeholders.
  7. Confirmation of a willingness to give the time commitment required for the role.

Experience of operating within a board or committee structure in a charitable, public sector or commercial organisation would be beneficial but not essential. We will provide support and training to help you transfer your knowledge, skills and experience to the role.

What difference will you make?

We have set ambitious objectives and we are committed to delivering on those objectives. Our ability to do so is dependent on our ability to make the most of the skills, energy and commitment of our volunteers. All of our Current Trustees and many of our volunteers suffer with the debilitating symptoms of a CSF Leak, which can have a very significant impact on our delivery. Whilst there have been huge benefits during our early days in involving people who have personal experience of a leak this can be limiting too in progressing at the pace we aspire to! Which is why we are now actively seeking to involve volunteers from outside our membership.

Before you apply

Interview will take place virtually with two or more trustees. If successful there is an application from to complete as well as 2 personal references and ID required.
