What will you be doing?

Volunteer Remote Trauma Therapist (Psychology)Hours per week: FlexibleLocation: Remote (anywhere in the world/UK) for West Bank Palestine

Key purpose of Job:WYKEI, WC & Simply InnerWorks aims to bridge the gap between disadvantaged communities women, children, parents in conflict/post-conflict settings, to empower them through working closely with children, women, families, schools mainly in trauma work & breathwork therapy to overcome trauma caused through conflict & look forward to the future appreciating the positive things life.

You will:• Ensure that a suitable support programme for clients to follow and adapt too• Manage a caseload of emotional needs including trauma and breath work• Supporting clients through their treatment• Offer a range of interventions and working with other agencies• Assessing, planning, implementation, care programme evaluation• Management & treatment of potential withdrawal, detoxification symptoms, physical, psychological and emotional• There will be Group, face-face, online therapy & telephone one-to-one counselling• Overall supporting client• Provide any reports or monitoring statistics as required• Report any problems/difficulties/complaints to the line manager and person responsible

RequiredPsychology/CYP/Trauma Counselling/Breathwork Trauma Qualification and to obtain an approved or another professional body recognised in psychology.BACP or BABCP Accredited or relevant accreditation body for your work (eg. NCS)EnglishDesired: Arabic

Working Conditions:You will work as part of a team, supporting each other. We require a minimum equivalent to 1 day a week- flexible work between 7am to 12pm Monday Thursday UK time and/or Sunday, nevertheless you would normally be placed certain days and times throughout your weeks unless any changes.

Monday to Thursday and/or Sundays (Flexible/ Agreed by Director) 

Confidentiality• Maintain confidentiality, professional boundaries and security, when working with staff and external agencies• Comply with WYK Empower’s policies & procedures relating to Data ProtectionSecurity• Maintain the security and well-being of vulnerable clients, and to communicate immediately with the line manager any breaches of safety and security, house rules especially where there is concern about safety

What are we looking for?

Required;

  • Psychology/Therapy Degree
  • Trauma Therapy Training
  • Experience delivering Trauma therapy to children and adults
  • Accredited with a counselling or therapy body
  • English and highly desired Arabic
  • Group work experience and 121 

What difference will you make?

The Trauma Therapist will be delivering Trauma support to marginalized, vulnerable, and disadvantaged women, youth and kids, parents, teachers, and schools in Palestine, Jerusalem, and the West Bank. They will help those affected by conflict to be empowered through overcoming the effects of war, to see the positive things in their lives, and to look forward to the future. Delivering such support and seeing the impact on these Women, Youth and Kids, schools, teachers, and parents is invaluable because they are currently living in fear each day, students have lost interest in their future, education, and life in general and are finding hard to cope, parents are finding it hard to find work and teachers are finding it hard to teach - the work aims to change this and help them live normal lives and overcome the effects of war on their mental health.
