Afrikindness Podcast has produced over 10 episodes and as a  podcast host, you will be responsible for creating and hosting a podcast series and increase our reach globally.

What will you be doing?

We are seeking a volunteer podcast host to create our podcast series. We have developed a brilliant and informative podcast about African culture and heritage, myths and misconceptions about Africa, and stereotypes and interviewed several great leaders globally who are making a difference in breaking stereotypes and rewriting the narrative of Africa and Black people. Our mission is to create a balanced view of several cultures and traditions bringing conversations to the beauty of our cultural and racial diversity, which is the scope of our podcast. You can hear it anywhere you get your podcasts, search for Afrikindness Podcast.

It is streamed across over 20 streaming platforms and also on YouTube.

We need your help to:

  • Host the podcast bringing the in-depth conversation to diversity and inclusion
  • Implement strategies to promote our podcasts.
  • Engage our expert speakers in a thought-provoking conversation bringing to the fore the lingering issues and offering a balanced view for our audience.
  • This is an opportunity to be creative, to meet new people - global leaders and also to be a voice in this important but critical conversation.

What are we looking for?

As the podcast host you will have a wide range of responsibilities, which include:

  • Interviewing guests who have expertise in a specific field (DEI, Leadership, African history and Culture, Cultural heritage. Arts, etc). You will facilitate a panel conversation that engages our audience
  • Creating a show format that will appeal to listeners and keep them engaged
  • Coordinating with producer to define the series content 
  • Preparing for each episode by researching topics or contacting guests
  • Reviewing listener feedback and responding to questions or concerns from listeners about previous episodes 
  • To work as a podcast host , it will be great to have 
  • A bachelor’s degree. Some of the most common majors for aspiring hosts include communications, broadcasting, journalism and media, English and /or liberal arts. (not mandatory) You may have taken courses in public speaking, broadcasting and media, and English. 

    Previous Experience in radio or television or as a Podcast host or creator or Facilitator will be ideal. This will provide you with the necessary understanding of how to interview guests and engage an audience.

  • Black or African lived experience (Host) - ideally from the African communities will be great as Host. 
  • Any background or race will be ideal as Co-host. So this opportunity is open to everyone irrespective of background or race.

What difference will you make?

Afrikindness Podcast is a new initiative aimed to mitigate the impact of misinformation, and negative narratives by making trustworthy information available to all. As a podcast host, you will lead interesting and educative conversations around culture and traditions, myths and misconceptions, Africa as a continent, and global sustainability topics. ( Listen to our episodes on Spotify or Amazon Music to get a sense of previous episodes).We will discuss your editorial plan and the best podcast format to maximize audience growth by staying consistent with Afrikindness values. 

  • Your contribution will ensure the podcast can reach a wider and global audience 
  • Your work will help create more awareness of what we do, through listening to our podcasts, you will help us to grow and provide the right information to people.
  • You will be a voice in Diversity and Inclusion space and engage global leaders on the lingering issues that affect the black and minority communities.
