Visitors from Fifth Day

Welcome to Reach Volunteering. We are a community and registered charity that connects people, skills and good causes.

To apply for this role, and any other on our platform, you need to be based in the UK, have at least three years of experience using the skills you wish to volunteer in a professional capacity or have lived experience (for trustee roles). Read more about our criteria.

Assit us to enable our social enterprise to develop into a farm which not only provides health and wellbing activities, education and nature conservation, but is also able to generate income from its organic fruit trees and bushes.

What will you be doing?

We are seeking a passionate Income and Sustainability Advisor to assist our team. We are currently run by volunteers and raise money to continue the work we do through, fundraising and donations, grants, product sales, running workshops and experiences, hosting family fun days, as well as rent from our partner businesses. Our aim is to reduce reliance on grant funding and build our income generating activities over the coming years to ensure the long-term viability and security of FarmEco.

The volunteer will play a crucial role in developing and implementing income generating and fundraising strategies to promote long-term financial sustainability of the organisation, our diverse range of programmes and initiatives. This could include, but is not limited to:

  • Assessing current income streams and, with support of the wider FarmEco team, creating a strategic plan to diversify and maximise income generation and reduce reliance on external fundraising
  • Exploring opportunities to maximise current infrastructure/resources to increase profitability of activities
  • Establishing criteria for membership and shares in the organisation as per our constitution
  • Managing, developing, and seeking new donor relationships
  • Supporting the FarmEco team to improve financial sustainability of projects
  • Sourcing and securing external grant funding.

The volunteer will work with the (soon to be appointed) CEO and others involved in grant writing. This position is flexible and open ended, but we would hope you could contribute 3-4 months support at least.

What are we looking for?

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience in fundraising, grant writing, and donor management
  • Strong financial acumen and experience with budgeting and financial reporting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Knowledge of the social enterprise sector and a passion for community development and environmental conservation
  • Experience in seeking relevant sources of funding, creating grant applications (including detailed project plans and budgets), and impact reporting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Personal Attributes:

  • Highly motivated and results oriented
  • Strong organisational and project management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Creative thinker with a strategic mindset
  • Commitment to the values and mission of FarmEco.

What difference will you make?

  1. Help this organisation to grow and be able to support paid staff who can make best use of the wonderful assets we already have.
  2. Help to get delicious, healthy organic fruit and nuts to markets, improving local food security.
  3. Help keep this nature rich farmland available for wildlife rather than sold for more housing or solar panel fields.
  4. Help provide a venue where school children and people from inner cities can come and connect with nature and see where food comes from.
