Our volunteers play a vital role in making sure that Camberwell Afterschool Project  (CASP) achieves its core purpose. The HR Truste  will have an important role with contributing to strategic aims of the charity.

What will you be doing?

Our charity delivers essential childcare provision to families on low incomes within the local community. We are looking for an experienced HR generalist to share their knowledge and experience with the othe Trustees. As well as working with the CEO, as we continue to move forward and ensure CASP remains sustainable for the future.

We would like the HR Trustee to:-

● Update the HR strategy for the charity

● Be actively involved in supporting the CEO with recruitment. For example, by reviewing job descriptions, promoting vacancies and supporting the interview process.

● Develop a comprehensive training and development programme for employees

● Provide advice on performance management procedures

● Advise the CEO on employee relations issues including sickness absence, disciplinary and grievance issues

●Supporting the CEO with ensuring CASP is adhering to current employment  legislation

● Assisting with reviewing and developing policies and procedures

●Review employment and working conditions to ensure legal compliance

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a Trustee who has experience of the following

  • A substantial working background as a senior HR professional, with a proven track record of success at a strategic and operational level
  • An understanding of the UK charity sector and the need for good governance
  • A thorough understanding of HR policy and Practice
  • Experience of people management, HR/employment law and implementing them contextually
  • Working effectively as a team member
  • Excellent communication, networking and influencing skills
  • An interest in the work of CASP

What difference will you make?

Despite our achievements, like most small charities we struggle to survive. Since losing our core funding from Southwark Council in 2012 we have worked tirelessly to keep the charity going. In 2025, CASP will celebrate 40 years and some of our employees have been with us for more than 20 years. Therefore, we want to review and improve our HR processes and procedures to ensure our employees continue to feel valued and engaged.

Candidates will need to send their CV in the first instance. However, due to safeguarding requirements any suitable candidates will also need to complete the organisation's application form. This should include one reference from a current or previous employer.
