The HR Trustee will play a critical role in overseeing the governance and human resources strategy of HAC.

What will you be doing?

Hope for African Communities (HAC) is dedicated to supporting and empowering communities within Africa through sustainable development programs. Our efforts are geared towards creating a lasting impact by addressing educational, health, and social needs.

 

Role of the HR Trustee:

The HR Trustee will play a critical role in overseeing the governance and human resources strategy of HAC. This position will ensure that HAC adheres to legal standards and maintains high levels of governance in all HR practices, which is crucial for our expansion and effectiveness.

 

Key Responsibilities

- Ensure compliance with the charity's governing documents, relevant laws, and HR best practices.

- Provide strategic oversight of HR functions including recruitment, staff development, retention, and performance management.

- Support and advise the board on HR issues and work closely with the Chief Executive to align HR strategies with the organization’s mission and goals.

- Facilitate the development and revision of HR policies and procedures.

- Guide the executive management and board in implementing effective HR systems that enhance the organizational culture and work environment.

- Play a role in the strategic planning and execution of organizational change and development.

 

What are we looking for?

Person Specification

- Proven experience in HR management, preferably within the non-profit sector.

- Strong understanding of employment law, performance management, employee relations, and diversity and inclusion.

- Strategic thinker with the ability to provide advice on the full range of HR issues.

- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

- Committed to the mission and values of HAC with a passion for community development.

- Ability to contribute to the board with independent judgment and integrity.

- Experience in organizational development and change management is highly desirable.
