The objective of National Coastwatch Institution is to assist in the protection and preservation of life at sea & along the UK coastline. NCI is a Registered Charity (No. 1159975), established in 1994, celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2024.

What will you be doing?

Ensuring that the NCI are compliant with Health & Safety Laws and policies. 

Providing guidance and advice to station Health & Safety Officers, ensuring that: 

All station Health & Safety Officers complete risk assessments to identify potential hazards 

All stations have a mechanism for reporting workplace accidents and that any accidents are investigated. 

Creating and managing a national NCI Health & Safety database:

Creating a reporting method for stations and analysing data reported. 

Providing a monthly Health & Safety report to the Management Executive detailing the national picture and highlighting any 'hot spots’ and/or trends. 

Acting as an escalation route into the Management Executive for Health and Safety matters nationally, in the event that stations are not actioning health & safety concerns raised. 

Creating and chairing an H&S user forum for station Health & Safety Officers. 

Exploring training opportunities for station Health & Safety Officers.

What are we looking for?

Be H&S qualified or possess suitable H&S experience 

Be capable of acting in confidence 

Have previous experience and understanding of how charities work 

Be computer literate
