The Head of HR is responsible for overseeing all human resources functions, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and supporting the recruitment, development, and retention of trustees, volunteers, and staff.

What will you be doing?

The Head of HR is responsible for overseeing all human resources functions, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and supporting the recruitment, development, and retention of trustees, volunteers, and staff. This role is integral to maintaining the organisation’s operational and regulatory standards by ensuring accurate record-keeping with the Charity Commission, bank, and internal systems. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, a commitment to supporting a positive work environment, and the ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion and care

What are we looking for?

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in human resources, with strong knowledge of HR compliance and recruitment best practices.
  • Proven track record in onboarding, conflict resolution, and supporting high levels of engagement in a volunteer-based organisation.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion and professionalism.
  • Proficiency in HR software, record-keeping systems, and Office Suite.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience working within the nonprofit sector or with mission-driven organisations.
  • Familiarity with Charity Commission regulations and volunteer management best practices.
  • Experience in developing HR policies, conducting performance reviews, and team building activities.
