The Head of Finance will oversee financial strategy and operations, ensuring the organisation's financial health and sustainable growth.

What will you be doing?

The Head of Finance will lead the financial strategy and operations, ensuring the organisation’s financial health and supporting sustainable growth. This individual will provide strategic financial guidance to senior management and oversee financial planning, budgeting, and reporting processes. Working closely with various Heads Ofs, the Head of Finance will drive efficient resource allocation, maintain strong financial controls, and support the achievement of the organisation’s goals.

What are we looking for?

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Chartered Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent qualification).
  • Proven experience in a senior finance role, ideally in a complex organisation.
  • Strong financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting principles and standards.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis, reporting, and modeling.
  • Leadership experience, with a track record of managing and developing finance teams.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience in the nonprofit sector or other mission-driven organisations.
  • Familiarity with financial software and ERP systems.
  • Experience in risk management and internal controls.

What difference will you make?

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Strategy and Planning

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive financial strategy aligned with the organisation’s objectives and mission.
  • Lead financial forecasting, including long-term planning and scenario analysis.

2. Budgeting and Financial Reporting

  • Oversee the annual budgeting process, coordinating with department heads to set and monitor budgets across the organisation.
  • Prepare accurate financial reports.

3. Accounting and Financial Operations

  • Ensuring timely processing of transactions, reconciliations, and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash flow management.

4. Risk Management and Compliance

  • Identify and evaluate financial risks, implementing strategies to mitigate these risks and enhance the organisation’s resilience.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.

5. Financial Analysis and Decision Support

  • Provide in-depth financial analysis to support new projects, investments, and partnerships.
  • Conduct cost-benefit analysis, financial modeling, and other quantitative analysis.

6. Leadership and Team Development

  • Initially, it will just be you in the department, but as it grows, you will lead, mentor, and develop the team, fostering a culture of accountability, integrity, and high performance.
  • Collaborate effectively with Heads ofs to support their financial management needs.

7. Stakeholder Engagement and Communication

  • Serve as a key point of contact for financial matters with external stakeholders, including banks, investors, donors, and auditors.
  • Communicate financial information clearly and effectively to all parties.
