Welcome to Reach Volunteering. We are a community and registered charity that connects people, skills and good causes.

To apply for this role, and any other on our platform, you need to be based in the UK, have at least three years of experience using the skills you wish to volunteer in a professional capacity or have lived experience (for trustee roles). Read more about our criteria.

HWCT is a place-based grantmaking charity tackling poverty and health inequalities in NW Camden. We're seeking a Trustee with finance expertise to help oversee our investments, governance, and community impact.

What will you be doing?

We are currently seeking a new Trustee with strong financial expertise to join our Board. This is a key governance role, helping to oversee our grants programme and safeguard the financial sustainability of the Trust.

As a Trustee, you will:

  • Join the Finance Committee, reviewing quarterly accounts and investment reports
  • Support the Board in interpreting financial data and making informed strategic decisions
  • Help shape decisions about our grantmaking priorities
  • Participate in reviewing applications for support.
  • Participate in general Trustee duties

Practicalities

  • Trustees are appointed for an initial term of three years, renewable up to three terms
  • The Board and Finance Committee meet quarterly in person (early evening) and online.
  • The role is voluntary, but travel expenses are reimbursed

What are we looking for?

We’re looking for someone who can strengthen the financial capability of our Board. You may be a qualified accountant or have significant senior-level finance experience in the charity, public, or private sector.

You’ll ideally bring:

  • A sound understanding of charity finance, audit, or investment
  • Strategic thinking and risk management awareness
  • A willingness to contribute to wider Board decisions on grantmaking, community impact, and governance
  • Familiarity with challenges facing the voluntary or community sector, especially in areas like poverty, health inequalities, or mental health

While a finance background is our priority, we also welcome candidates who bring lived or professional experience relevant to our charitable aims.

We especially encourage applications from underrepresented communities. HWCT is committed to improving the age range and ethnic diversity of our Board so we can better reflect the people we serve.

What difference will you make?

As a Trustee, you’ll join a dedicated, collaborative Board with strong staff support. Your input will shape how our funding helps vulnerable people in our area of benefit—whether through local advice centres, housing projects, mental health charities, or individual hardship relief.

This is a chance to give back, develop your governance skills, and play an active role in a charity that is small enough for your voice to matter, but impactful enough to change lives.

Before you apply

Please provide a cover letter detailing why you are interested in this role and your relevant experience.Interviews will be held week beginning 26th May. We are flexible around the dates of the interview. If you are unable to make the dates above then please inform us in your cover letter.Closing date for applications is 5pm on Sunday 4th May.To express interest or ask any questions, please contact us on the Reach platform.
