Poltimore House Trust is seeking one or more Co-ordinators with appropriate experience to help restore and manage our 13.6 acres of historic Grounds.
Poltimore House Trust is a registered charity dedicated to the restoration of an historic mansion just outside Exeter as a resource for the arts, business, communities and wellbeing.
The Trust owns 13.6 acres of the historic estate and is committed to developing a strategy which blends heritage restoration, biodiversity and visitor experience. We are seeking one or more Grounds Co-ordinators with appropriate experience to help create and deliver plans for key improvement and maintenance projects, co-ordinate teams of volunteers, provide training where necessary, and ensure safe working practices.
The Grounds are maintained by some 30 regular volunteers, and a campaign is currently underway to increase recruitment. Corporate volunteering has also grown recently and the Trust is seeking further opportunities to develop this valuable area of support.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Trust at a key moment in the restoration of Poltimore’s historic House and Grounds. The post is not remunerated but regular volunteers enjoy free admission to on-site events and discounts at our Café.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Although this is a 'hands on' role we are seeking someone with the skills and experience required to manage routine operations and improvement projects in the Grounds. This includes creating and managing the delivery of project plans, procuring appropriate resources, and managing volunteers within a defined budget and timeline whilst ensuring safe working practices. Coaching, mentoring and training volunteers is an essential part of the role, creating high levels of engagement and retention.
