Green Synergy are recruiting Trustees for our Board

Green Synergy is a Lincoln charity that supports people to socialise, learn and thrive through community gardening programmes to improve their wellbeing.

What will you be doing?

Green Synergy are looking for new trustees, who are passionate about improving lives and communities through gardening and horticulture. Our work includes:

  • Community gardening and therapeutic horticultural programmes.
  • Using community gardening to support people to socialise, learn and thrive
  • Community engagement events that bring people together to create more life chances, quality green spaces and to re-connect people to green spaces, growing and nature.

Green Synergy has ambitious growth plans and we wish to strengthen our board’s expertise in the following areas:

  • Marketing and Communications including social media
  • Social Enterprise
  • Knowledge of local policy especially regarding health, social care, education, employment and the environment

What are we looking for?

Each trustee must have:

  • A commitment to the vision, mission and values of Green Synergy
  • A willingness to meet the minimum time commitment including, on occasions, being available to staff for advice and support
  • Integrity including understanding of, and ability to maintain, confidentiality
  • An ability to see the ‘big picture’ and think strategically
  • Good, independent judgement, political impartiality and the ability to think creatively in the context of the organisation and external environment.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to respect the confidences of colleagues
  • Balancing tact and diplomacy with willingness to challenge and constructively criticise
  • Willingness to express opinion in a reasoned way and to actively participate in discussion
  • An understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship
  • An ability to work effectively as a member of a team
  • A willingness to learn and undertake training if required

What difference will you make?

As a trustee you will:

  • Have an induction, training and reimbursable expenses
  • Contribute to improving lives and communities that are disadvantaged
  • Have opportunities to develop new skills and to network with professionals

A wide range of applications are welcomed especially from those with lived experience. The expected time commitment is a bimonthly board meeting and other events. As well as preparing for the board meetings trustees may be called upon for specific advice and support in their areas of expertise.
