Welcome to Reach Volunteering. We are a community and registered charity that connects people, skills and good causes.

To apply for this role, and any other on our platform, you need to be based in the UK, have at least three years of experience using the skills you wish to volunteer in a professional capacity or have lived experience (for trustee roles). Read more about our criteria.

Samaritans provide compassionate support to callers in distress. 

We are looking for a volunteer to write and submit grant applications to local trust and statutory funders.

What will you be doing?

  • Draft grant applications to local trust and statutory funders 
  • Submit draft applications to the branch Director and Treasurer for approval 
  • Submit approved applications to funders and monitor outcomes, receiving and dealing with any follow-up queries and taking the lead on any presentations to funders 
  • Monitor progress of applications, including following-up funders, thanking and acknowledging donations 
  • Reporting back to funders about project outcomes and progress
  • Make sure that any applications comply with Samaritans policies (e.g. Confidentiality)

Experience of submitting grant applications desirable

Excellent written skills and the ability to communicate complex issues clearly

Excellent organisational skills

What difference will you make?

The mission of Samaritans is that fewer people die by suicide.  Your role would help Shrewsbury Branch raise sufficient funds to keep our branch running, so enabling us to support those in distress who need our help.

There is mandatory online training to complete and we will arrange for you to have a DBS check, free of charge.
