What will you be doing?

HUMEN is seeking a passionate and experienced Fundraising and Grant/Bid Writing Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing fundraising strategies, identifying funding opportunities, and writing grant proposals and bids to secure financial support for our organisation’s initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Grant/Bid Writing:
    • Research and identify grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations, corporations, and other sources.
    • Write compelling grant proposals and bids that effectively communicate HUMEN's goals, programs, and impact to potential funders.
    • Collaborate with program staff to gather relevant data, statistics, and success stories to support grant proposals and bids.
    • Ensure timely submission of grant applications and bids, adhering to all requirements and deadlines.
  2. Donor Stewardship:
    • Cultivate and maintain relationships with current and prospective donors, sponsors, and funding partners.
    • Acknowledge and recognise donors' contributions through personalised communications, thank-you letters, and donor recognition events.
    • Provide regular updates and reports to donors on the impact of their support and how their contributions are making a difference.
  3. Collaboration and Coordination:
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including program staff, finance team, and executive leadership, to align fundraising efforts with organisational priorities and goals.
    • Coordinate with external partners, consultants, and vendors as needed to support fundraising activities and initiatives.
    • Stay informed about trends, best practices, and regulations related to fundraising, grant writing, and philanthropy.

Reporting and Collaboration:

  • Reporting: You will report directly to Lauren Hutton, who is the Head of Fundraising and Partnerships. Lauren will provide guidance, support, and oversight for your activities.
  • Collaboration: You will work closely with River Hawkins, who is the CEO and Founder, among others, to ensure that campaign goals are met and that all activities are well-coordinated with broader organisational efforts.

This position offers flexibility in your tasks and the opportunity to bring your unique skills and ideas to the table, enhancing our campaigns and operational effectiveness.

What are we looking for?

  • Proven experience in fundraising, grant writing, and donor relations within the nonprofit sector.
  • Strong writing and communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling grant proposals, bids, and donor communications.
  • Excellent research and analytical skills, with the ability to identify funding opportunities and gather relevant data and information.
  • Knowledge of fundraising best practices, donor stewardship principles, and ethical standards in philanthropy.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects and deadlines, and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Passion for mental health advocacy and a commitment to promoting emotional wellbeing among men.

What difference will you make?

As Grant/Bid Writing Coordinator for HUMEN, you will have a profound impact on our organisation’s ability to fulfil its mission of promoting mental health and emotional well-being among men. Through your strategic fundraising efforts and persuasive grant/bid writing skills, you will:

  1. Secure Financial Support: Your ability to develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies will ensure that HUMEN has the financial resources needed to sustain and expand our programs, events, and initiatives.
  2. Expand Programs and Services: With your expertise in identifying and securing grant opportunities, you will enable HUMEN to access additional funding sources to expand our programs and services. By writing compelling grant proposals and bids, you will successfully secure grants that support the development of new initiatives, the expansion of existing programs, and the implementation of innovative approaches to mental health advocacy and support.
  3. Increase Awareness and Engagement: Your fundraising campaigns, events, and activities will raise awareness about HUMEN's mission and impact, engaging donors and supporters in our cause. By sharing stories of hope, resilience, and recovery, you will inspire others to join us in our efforts to promote mental health awareness and support men in their journey toward emotional well-being.
  4. Empowerment and Transformation: Through your efforts, you will empower men to prioritise their mental health and seek support when needed. By securing funding for HUMEN's programs and initiatives, you will ensure that men have access to the resources, support, and community they need to overcome mental health challenges and thrive.
