We are open to anytime you can offer us to get our bids written and submitted. We can be very flexible with what you can offer.

To expand our work in Kenya, planting trees to mitigate climate change, along side building classrooms and empowering woman, we are looking for someone who can be part of team writing applications to fund our projects

What will you be doing?

We're a #SmallButMighty international reforestation charity with one member of staff and around 30 occasional, environmentally-minded volunteers. We'd love to hear from somebody who could strengthen our charity by covering this vital role.

We are urgently requiring an experience bid writers  who would be able to work with a team to get applications written to fund some projects we  are waiting to deliver.  We have identified the possible fund providers but need help to get the applications processed and submitted.

As we're an environmental and education charity, it would be great if the applicant shared our values and passion for taking care of the planet but it's not essential.

Ideally, the perfect applicant would have experience in bid writing and  have great communication and organisational skills, be optimistic and encouraging.

Working remotely we envisage the role to entail

  • Working with the Core team at Word Forest to identify the key projects to fund and the trusts to approach
  • Work as part of the team to create a case for support
  • Write appropriately tailored funding bids

What are we looking for?

We are a small young charity, with our funds coming from limited sources.  We have seen growth year on year and have made great impact through our work.  We have  a range of successful projects under our belt with much more to do so it is time to scale up.   We recognise we need an experienced bid writer to enable us to tap into funds to get more trees in the ground and classrooms built.

As mentioned before, it would be absolutely marvellous if you shared our passions for the environment, reforestation and women's empowerment - those elements sits at the heart of all we do. It fires our drive to clean the air that blows all over the world via tree planting.

Our Core Team has short, daily scrum meetings and it would be lovely if you could attend occasionally to share updates and news. Having a convivial disposition would be great too - we're certainly not a stuffy, boring group, we care about our planet and each other very much.

Any skills you'd like to share from your experience in the charitable sector, would be good to learn more about. A willingness to throw additional ideas into the pot to make our charity shine, are always welcomed. We are all learning as we go and striving for more.

To find out how we roll and to see our positive impact in action, please watch our documentary #TreesAreTheKey narrated by Kate Winslet before applying. You'll see why our drive is so fierce to reforest Kenya and to support the amazing people living on the frontline of climate change, who work so hard to look after the forests.

What difference will you make?

By coming on board you will enable us to deliver the wealth of projects needed, to support the community in Kenya.

We are 5 years old and still in relatively early days as a charity. We're always on the lookout for ways to improve how we deliver our charitable aims: to plant fast growing trees in the tropics, build schools, facilitate education and support a growing women's empowerment movement called the Mothers of the Forest.

With no salary, this has to be a job somebody wants to contribute to freely because they want to mitigate the existential threat of climate chaos.

You will see the benefit of your contribution in everything the charity achieves and through the frequent contact we have with our team in Kenya.

What's in it for the volunteer?

We're a highly motivated, tight-knit team who are incredibly friendly, open to ideas, supportive, passionate about the planet, nurturing, thoughtful, respectful and considerate of each other; we don't do ego here either.

If working with a connected team like this sounds like something you'd like to do, we'd really love to hear from you.

A few more details

As mentioned earlier, the best way to get to know us is by watching #TreesAreTheKey but do scroll through our News Feed and our website for volunteers too.
