What will you be doing?

Are you as passionate as we are at the Visually Impaired Sailing Association (Visa-gb) about breaking down barriers to wellbeing, social interaction, and self-confidence through sport? If so, we have a great opportunity for you to support us in improving lives chances and wellbeing of visually impaired adults through sailing.

1 in 5 people in the UK will live with sight loss during their lifetime and around 320,000 people are severely sight impaired which has a dramatic impact on education, employment and life chances. At Visa-gb we encourage, enjoy and empower .We brings together visually impaired people and experienced sailors to develop new skills and build confidence while sailing.

We are a small but perfectly formed national charity with plans to extend our reach and enable more visually impaired people to experience the benefits of sailing. To do this we need to raise funds to be able to deliver high quality sailing at an accessible price.

We are looking for an experienced fundraiser with a track-record of success in bidding for charitable grants and building partnerships who can assist us to deliver our ambitious 5 year strategy to become financially resilent and to gro. Experience of disability or sports sectors would be an advantage as would experience of developing corporate sponsorship or social investment .

In return we offer the opportunity for you to expand your horizons and be part of interesting and rewarding activity which empowers people to develop new skills, confidence and independence and improve their health and wellbeing.

We ask that you are able to commit up to 10 days per year which can be done entirely remotely, no in-person attendance required.

You will have access to information about funding opportunities, as well as about our membership and impact .We welcome applications from all ages and backgrounds and would love to hear from you. Get in touch if you would like ot find out more or send us a summary of your relevant experience

What are we looking for?

We are looking for an experienced person who can advise and support us on developing a sustainable funding strategy and on delivering this to assist us to move away from bidding for grants for events and projects toward establishing partnerships and securing funding for core activity and longer term impact. This might be through charitable grants, or corporate or social partnerships. Experience of disability or sports sectors would be of value but is not essential.

What difference will you make?

Visa-have been encouraging and enabling sighted and visually impaired people to enjoy sailing since 2009.

If you join us, together we can:* Move to a more resilient and sustainable funding model* Offer more opportunities to sail and increasing our impact* Develop pathways for visually impaired people to take part in off-shore sailing with other clubs and organisations* Offer more volunteers the opportunity to develop new skills and the confidence to encourage and enable visually impaired people to participate in sports, recreation, education and employment.

You will be supported by passionate and committed trustees and volunteers who assist us with safeguarding, communications, operations,  and recruiting and managing volunteers.
