If you are an experienced fundraiser, we need your help. This is a volunteer position, and we can guarantee you huge satisfaction and enjoyment and the opportunity to make a real difference for a small community charity.  

What will you be doing?

A background in charity fundraising at a strategic or senior level.

  • To assist the Board of Trustees in developing a comprehensive fundraising strategy for the charity.
  • To report to the Trustees every quarter, giving an update on fundraising achievements, plans, and progress.
  • To ensure fundraising is of the highest standard and priority within a robust governance framework that meets all relevant legislation.

Main Responsibilities of a Fundraising Trustee

  • Oversee fundraising to ensure it is carried out legally, honestly, and accountable.
  • Strategically assess where fundraising fits into the overall charity strategy and work with the Trustees to ensure effective income generation is being achieved.
  • Contributing knowledge of fundraising techniques, best practices, and strategies.
  • Assessing risks in new fundraising directions, promptly alerting the Board of Trustees as and when necessary of critical concerns.

Qualities of a Fundraising Trustee

  • To have a substantial background as a senior charity fundraiser with a sound understanding and experience of charity fundraising at strategic and operational levels.
  • A good understanding of fundraising within a small charity and the challenges facing small charities.
  • Experience with diverse income generation practices.
  • Experience in the charitable or voluntary sector.

 Time Commitment

  • Trustee meetings are bi-monthly, and you will be required to attend all of them or provide apologies with sufficient time ahead. 

What are we looking for?

  • Experience in charitable fundraising environment and knowledge of fundraising ‘best practice’.
  • Experience in prioritising and working to deadlines
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written)
  •  Commitment to support the aims of the Group
  • Good, independent judgement 
  • Proactive with the ability to think creatively 
  • Understanding and accepting the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship
  • Ability to work effectively independently and as part of the Director/Trustee board.
