Lead our fundraising efforts to support poetry across Surrey. Coordinate a small team, grow donor support, and drive creative campaigns that sustain our historic and expanding community work.
What will you be doing?
As Fundraising Team Leader for the Surrey Poet Laureateship, you’ll coordinate and grow our fundraising efforts to ensure the organisation has the financial support it needs to thrive. You’ll lead a small, motivated team and work closely with the Treasurer, Grants Officers, and Marketing Head to develop creative campaigns and meaningful donor relationships.
This role involves both strategy and hands-on delivery—from planning community fundraising drives to approaching sponsors and helping implement donor engagement efforts. You’ll be shaping the way our supporters contribute to poetry’s reach and impact across Surrey.
Key responsibilities include:
This is a dynamic, collaborative role ideal for someone who enjoys connecting with people, thinking creatively, and helping causes grow sustainably.
What are we looking for?
We’re looking for a proactive, personable, and motivated individual with a passion for community arts and a knack for bringing people together around a shared cause. You don’t need to be a professional fundraiser—but experience in people-facing roles, campaign planning, or outreach will be very helpful.
Essential skills and qualities:
You must be able to reliably commute to our HQ at the Literary Institute building in Egham for team meetings and occasional fundraising events or planning sessions.
We warmly welcome applications from people of all backgrounds who believe in the power of poetry to build community and transform lives.
What difference will you make?
As Fundraising Team Leader, you will help secure the financial foundations that make everything we do possible—from community poetry workshops and inclusive events to competitions, outreach, and the running of our Poetry Hubs.
Your leadership will directly impact our ability to grow, reach new audiences, and make poetry accessible across Surrey. By building strong relationships with supporters, sponsors, and the public, you’ll help create a more sustainable and resilient future for the Laureateship.
You’ll be empowering a historic, community-driven organisation to do more—amplifying voices, deepening engagement, and ensuring poetry continues to thrive where it’s needed most.
