Looking for Fundraising Specialist to help us grow our non-profit income and expand our pool of donors by supporting the team, identifying potential new funders, submit applications and grant proposals and build relationships with donors. 

What will you be doing?

There’s flexibility about how the volunteer could help and the work will be divided between our volunteers, if necessary.

  • To set and achieve income targets across all fundraising disciplines, in particular developing strategies to maximise unrestricted income 
  • Represent the organisation with key supporters, funders and other key stakeholders. 
  • Develop and implement a Fundraising strategy which takes into account the current fundraising approach and the need to introduce new strategies to meet targets. 
  • Lead the development of new fundraising initiatives and/or techniques as appropriate. 
  • To work with relevant staff to maximise all opportunities for joint fundraising and public awareness activities.
  • Support bidding applications which provide us with income opportunities.
  • Conduct thorough research on grant opportunities, gather relevant information, and analyse bid requirements to develop tailored, compliant, and competitive proposals.
  • Write persuasive bid responses highlighting the Falklands War Heritage Centre value proposition, focusing on the Projects benefits to the nation and military veterans.
  • Researching and identifying suitable charitable trusts, organisations and businesses to approach for grants or donations using internet searches and free or purchased databases.
  • Write comprehensive and persuasive grant proposals to charitable trusts and foundations, Applying for core costs, salaries, project funds and capital purchases.
  • To prepare interim and end-of-grant reports for charitable trusts and foundations and maintain a good relationship with existing funders. 
  • Work closely with the current team and project managers/co-ordinators and Board members within the Falklands War Heritage Centre
  • Input into the Falklands War Heritage Centre overall business strategy
  • Develop and regularly review and monitor the Fundraising strategy
  • Work to fund a Research programme to be undertaken on the Falkland Islands securing funding or obtaining free air fairs, accommodation, transport on the Island and equipment to enable a tour of the battlefields of the Falklands war

Ultimately, you will be key to ensuring sufficient income to help us through the various phases of the Project with a big influence on the smooth running as the Project progresses initially as we look to set up a web page and social media presence to our ultimate goal of achieving and opening the Falklands War Heritage Centre. Then longer term to continue to seek new funding to develop more services to meet increasing  delivery of the Project.

Your successful revenue generating strategy will help shape how we are able to present ourselves to our service users, stakeholders, funders and general public.

You will be part of a dynamic organisation with our other teams of volunteers dealing with Marketing, Social Media, Events and Operations.

You will also be influential in supporting the organisation's development in its transformation and growth as we continue to develop the ongoing business plan and sustainability strategy.
