Visitors from Fifth Day

Welcome to Reach Volunteering. We are a community and registered charity that connects people, skills and good causes.

To apply for this role, and any other on our platform, you need to be based in the UK, have at least three years of experience using the skills you wish to volunteer in a professional capacity or have lived experience (for trustee roles). Read more about our criteria.

We are wanting help to raise much needed funds to continue our important work, supporting vulnerable adults who live with debilitating and enduring mental ill-health, and struggle with living independently.

What will you be doing?

We are hoping to find volunteers to help us with:

  • organising fundraising events
  • suggesting some creative ideas to raise funds
  • digital fundraising
  • adventure fundraising challenges
  • corporate funding support
  • anything else you can think of!

What are we looking for?

Experience is more important than skills - experience and creative ideas.   We are looking for people who can generate and build enthusiasm in others, get people involved in events and projects to raise funds for us.

Useful skills and experience could include:

  • Event organising
  • Fundraising
  • Creativity - ideas
  • Online research
  • Computer literacy
  • Networking skills

What difference will you make?

Our work involves providing desperately needed ongoing support and help for vulnerable adults who struggle with daily tasks ... things like online access, dealing with incoming mail, budgeting and money management, cooking and nutrition, hobbies, building confidence, encouraging engagement with community activities, or simply offering a listening ear or going for a walk.  Kindness and compassion can go a long way and make a big difference.

There has been a lot of focus recently on mental health, but mental illness can often be left out of the conversation.  There are over half a million people in the UK with a diagnosis of a Serious Mental Illness (SMI), and the work that we do helps to relive the loneliness and isolation that so often dominates their lives.  Everyone is different, and our support is person-centred, offering help with individual needs and requirements, to help our clients live their best life, and keep them safe - out of hospital and away from the criminal justice system.

Unfortunately, having a mental illness can often mean losing employment, friends and sometimes family.  A regular visit can make all the difference, providing stability, trust and continuity, and it’s the long-term aspect of the service we provide that makes such a big difference.

Every parent of someone who lives with these debilitating conditions, worries always about who will care for their loved one when they are no longer able to – and our answer is “we will”.

The funds raised will help us support more of the vulnerable people we work with - your help to raise funds for us will be truly invaluable, and both we and our clients and our future clients will be incredbily grateful.
