Welcome to Reach Volunteering. We are a community and registered charity that connects people, skills and good causes.

To apply for this role, and any other on our platform, you need to be based in the UK, have at least three years of experience using the skills you wish to volunteer in a professional capacity or have lived experience (for trustee roles). Read more about our criteria.

Action Duchenne is the longest standing Duchenne-only charity in the UK. We provide a vital support mechanism for young people, adults and their families at every stage of their Duchenne journey.

What will you be doing?

Be the face of Action Duchenne for our supporters taking on challenges. If you have a passion for supporting people, cheering and socialising with others, then this could be the perfect role for you!

We are looking for someone who could

  • Supporting event participants from sign up to post event via WhatsApp group, by helping them to:
  • sign up to official event consoles before the deadline
  • Maximise their fundraising by providing advice
  • Promote what they are doing through social and traditional media
  • Cheering and managing the on the day cheer squad (why not take family and friends along?) (optional)
  • Meet and greet event participants on the day
  • Taking pictures of the event and our fundraisers (optional)
  • Writing a blog or putting together a social media post about after the event (optional).

 

You will be based at home, but you can choose to go along to cheer our event participants.

Ideally, you will be able to offer 1-2 hours per week, with the most time spent being in the month of the event taking place

  • You will be fully supported by our Senior Fundraising Coordinator
  • We will provide you with t-shirts, banners, flags, postcards or any other items you need.
  • All expenses related to the role will be reimbursed.
  • We will train you in how to operate our fundraising platforms

What are we looking for?

You’ll be the perfect fit for this role, if you are:

  • Cheery, and able to greet our supporters with a smile
  • Comfortable talking to people from a range of backgrounds
  • Caring and understanding
  • Have strong organisational skills
  • 18 yrs or older
  • And have previous experience of fundraising or supporting fundraisers in any way.

What difference will you make?

Make a tangible difference to the lives of people living with Duchenne by supporting people to raise thousands of pounds.

You will:

Gain a firsthand understanding of how fundraising works in a busy national charity

  • Have the opportunity to be part of some major fundraising events such as the London Marathon and the Great North Run
  • Develop your skills in project management, communications and promotions
  • Travel around the country visiting new towns and cities (if you wish)
  • You will be able to meet other like-minded people who are just as wonderful as you!
