You will be responsible for leading all fundraising activity to help maximise income from supporters for Borderline Arts.

What will you be doing?

Overview:

  • Responsible for the coordination of fundraising events and initiatives, involving fun, innovative and successful ideas for fundraising events, planning them and carrying them out with support from the rest of the team. 
  • Meeting with the Chair to come up with potential ideas, then to carry out and delegate tasks to other members of the Borderline Arts team (e.g. Social Media Manager, Events Coordinator etc.)
  • Liaise directly with the Borderline Chair about any big decisions and changes and keep close contact with the Chair about all that is going on.

You should: 

  • Identify and suggest fundraising opportunities.
  • In conjunction with the Treasurer, look at the organisation's overall budget and make sure the projected goals will cover the required expenses Borderline Arts needs from fundraising money.
  • Develop a fundraising action plan and come up with a sound budget projecting profits as a whole.
  • Organise meetings with the team and delegate roles to other members of the team.
  • Work alongside the Events Coordinator in order to secure venues etc (email, phone etc).
  • Ensure events and activities will make a profit.
  • In conjunction with the Treasurer keep records relating to fundraising monies.

 

 

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a creative individual who already has some experience of fundraising and has an awareness of the different types of activities/events that could work as potential funding streams for our charity. Some experience of marketing would also be desirable but is not essential.

Ideally a Fundraising Coordinator is someone who:

  • Can communicate effectively and has excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Has the ability to work well in a team.
  • Ensures they are well informed of all organisation activities.
  • Ensures they are aware of the future directions and plans of Borderline Arts.
  • Has a good working knowledge of what Borderline Arts is all about and what we are fundraising for.
  • Is positive and enthusiastic and has creative flair.
  • Has access to internet, email, web, MS Word, MS Excel or equivalent/compatible.
  • Has good numeracy skills with the ability to accurately enter and record financial data.
  • Has experience of using basic databases including Windows based software packages.
  • Has the ability to delegate successfully.

Appointment terms and Time Commitment Required 

  • The Fundraising Officer is appointed for a term, which is negotiated between the Chair and the applicant. The minimum term is 6 months.
  • The estimated time commitment required as the Fund raising Officer of Borderline is 6 hours per week. Some weeks will be much less, some much more – so there is a need for flexibility.
  • Attendance at monthly Committee Meetings (approx 1 hour in length)
  • At all times, remember that Borderline’s focus is to raise awareness/understanding of and reduce stigma surrounding BPD, using the arts – ensure whatever you are doing is achieving that aim, or leading us to be able to do that more.
