Jordan Mission intends to improve life skills and develop self-esteem for young adults in East London (Newham). We focus on young adults struggling in finding guidance and information for employment, apprenticeships, or training.

What will you be doing?

We are seeking an experienced Fundraising and Partnership Officer to join our growing Charity. The ideal candidate will work directly with the Director, while taking ownership of a variety of different events and initiatives. The applicant would become increasingly involved in community projects and related fundraising, providing a series of developing, satisfying experiences, while supporting good causes and gaining valuable experience.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Organizing and helping with traditional fundraising activities such as sponsored or promotional events, raffles, house-to-house and street collections.
  • Approaching individuals, local authorities, businesses and more, for sponsorship and donations.
  • Responsible for the fundraising strategy by encouraging donations from individuals and business.
  • Developing new fundraising ideas and events.
  • Writing proposals, event management project, management research
  • Writing grants applications and bid writing

  • Experience of chairing committees or working groups. (E)

Relations and Communications

  • An effective communicator with strong oral and written skills (E)

Fundraising

  • An understanding of the challenges facing small UK charities in access trust and foundation funding. (E)
  • Experience of grant and individual giving. (E)
  • Ability to support grant and fundraising strategies whilst maintaining the ethos of the charity. (E)
  • Ability to understand effective campaigns around individual giving. (E)
  • Excellent networking skills, influencing and communication skills. (E)
  • An understanding of Grant and Fundraising activity in the charitable sector.  (E) 

Charity sector

  • Board or committee experience, including proven ability to make decisions and take appropriate risks. (E)
  • An understanding of the UK charity sector, good governance, Charity Commission, Companies House requirements, Fundraising Regulator, legislative and statutory requirements. (D)
  • Ability to relate to clients and user experiences. (D)

General

  • Ability to relate to patient and user experiences. (D)
  • Willing and able to represent the charity at events. (E)
  • Willing to commit to work on projects in support of the wider work of the Board of trustees. (E)

What difference will you make?

The role Fundraising and Partnership Officer will provide leadership and direction to the Board of Trustees to enable the board to fulfil its responsibilities for the overall governance and strategic direction of the charity, as well as oversight and scrutiny of the charity’s operations. Jordan Mission plans to pursue even greater collaboration with local partner organisations to deliver support and services, to enable affordable expansion of its activities.  We would like to focus on- raising significant new income, to enable us to move towards balanced budgets year-on-year, and to offset the significant income loss because of Covid-19. - To ensure our staff and volunteers have the skills, the systems and the organisation they need, - Raising our profile – to make sure people know what we do and what is important to our young adults in Newham (London) and Badja, Togo, so that we attract the best staff, volunteers, partners, members, friends and supporters of Jordan Mission - To develop a portfolio of new services that empowers young adults Providing opportunities, support and guidance to enable young adults to make best use of our services. - To continue working collaboratively with the Local Authority and relevant agencies to ensure that the needs of young adults are met.

This role provides an opportunity to work alongside an experienced and diverse team of trustees and senior management in a rapidly changing environment to make a real difference to the lives of young adults in Newham (London-UK) and Badja, Togo (West Africa)
