What will you be doing?

As a fundraiser for The UK Hip Hop Museum, you will play a pivotal role in securing the financial resources essential for our mission. Your efforts will directly impact our ability to establish a permanent home where Hip Hop culture's vibrant history and profound influence can be celebrated and preserved for generations to come, alongside educational programs, exhibitions, and community engagement.

Grant/Bid Writing:

  • Research and Identify Funding Opportunities: Explore and identify grant opportunities from government bodies, foundations, corporations, and other sources. 
  • Develop Compelling Proposals: Write persuasive grant proposals and bids that align with UKHHM’s mission and effectively communicate our goals and achievements. 
  • Collaborate with our Leadership Team: Work with our team to gather essential data, statistics, and success stories to enhance proposals. 
  • Timely Submission: Ensure all grant applications and bids are submitted on time, adhering to the specific requirements and deadlines.

Donor Relations:

  • Build and Maintain Relationships: Develop and nurture relationships with existing and prospective donors, sponsors, and funding partners. 
  • Donor Recognition: Acknowledge and appreciate donors through personalised communications and recognition events. 
  • Impact Reporting: Provide donors with regular updates on how their contributions are benefiting UKHHM’s initiatives.

Collaboration and Coordination:

  • Internal Collaboration: Coordinate with program staff, finance teams, and leadership to align fundraising activities with organisational goals. 
  • External Coordination: Engage with external partners and consultants to support fundraising activities. 
  • Stay Updated: Keep abreast of trends, best practices, and regulations related to fundraising and grant writing.

Reporting and Supervision:

  • Reporting: You will report directly to our Directors, who will provide guidance and oversight. 
  • Collaboration: Work closely with our CEO and Founders to ensure fundraising activities are well-coordinated and align with our broader goals.

What are we looking for?

We’re looking for a passionate and results-oriented volunteer with a heart for preserving Hip Hop culture. While formal experience is valuable, we highly value the following qualities:

Experience:

  • Fundraising: At least three years of experience
  • Securing Funding: Proven success in obtaining funding from trusts, foundations, and corporate donors.
  • Not-for-Profit Sector: Experience with not-for-profits and understanding of sector challenges is highly valued.

Creativity:

  • Narratives: Ability to craft compelling stories and messages that resonate with donors and reflect our work.
  • Strategies: Innovative thinking for new fundraising approaches and campaigns.
  • Impact: Skill in transforming data into powerful stories that emotionally engage funders.

Confidence:

  • Relationships: Strong in building connections and confidently presenting our mission to potential donors.
  • Advocacy: Comfortable advocating for resources needed to achieve our goals.
  • Independence: Capable of independent work and taking ownership of projects while collaborating effectively with our team.

Additional Qualities:

  • Skills: Strong in writing, communication, research, and analysis.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with fundraising best practices, donor stewardship, and ethical standards in philanthropy.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work independently yet collaborate effectively on multiple projects.
  • Passion: Deep commitment to Hip Hop culture and the mission of The UK Hip Hop Museum.
