We are looking for volunteers with a background in organising events, local fund raising, marketing/raising awareness, giving tours once cottage is open.
To be a part of the project in helping to raise awareness, funds and to be a part of the local and wider community in helping to organise events and, once the cottage has been restored and is open to the public, to be part of the welcoming team, to show the public round the cottage and gardens and to assist with the educational workshops that are ultimately planned.
The volunteers should have skills as below (individually/partially) and experience with similar restoration projects, or other projects in the arts and/or education world. Volunteers with event management, public relations, campaigning skills and experience must have good organisational and interpersonal skills and be able to relate to the public from around the world as visitors will inevitably be international with Blake's global reach and influence being as it is.
By volunteering for The Blake Cottage Trust, volunteers will have a wonderful opportunity to be an integral part of the project from start to finish and beyond, once the Cottage is open to the public. Notwithstanding that this is a local project, its impact will inevitably be national and international as William Blake's genius with his poetry, art and music has influenced countless creative people over the centuries and indeed, Blake still remains influential; Billy Bragg for example, is one of our Ambassadors.
Volunteers will gain great enjoyment and satisfaction knowing that, a once near derelict dwelling of such artistic importance, will be transformed into a thriving, cultural hub.
If you are interested in volunteering for this exciting project, then please apply through Reach in the first instance and shortlisted candidates will be contacted by the Volunteer Coordinator.
