Use or sharpen up your finance skills to help us make our finances more efficient. We need help to move our accounting onto new finance software, improve our cash flow and do our book-keeping. One-off project or ongoing support, to suit you!

What will you be doing?

We are seeking someone with finance/accounting/bookkeeping skills to help Berkshire Phab make our finances more efficient.

There are several things we need help with; you could choose to do one or all of these, either as a one-off project or providing us with ongoing support:

  1. Move our accounting from Sage to QuickBooks
  2. Sort out our processes for chasing payments, to improve our cash flow
  3. Enter our income and expenditure into the accounting system

Please get in touch if you are interested in any aspect of this work.

We have been running activities in the Reading area for over 40 years.  We help disabled and non-disabled people share experiences and socialise, and offer activities designed for all abilities. The purpose-built Berkshire Phab centre opens four days a week as a drop-in club for adults, and on Saturdays for young people in our youth club.

Berkshire Phab's clubs are run by our experienced staff with help from volunteers, and we need lots of people to help keep the centre open every week.

What are we looking for?

Essential

  • Competent with maths and finances.
  • Experience of bookkeeping and/or financial management.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Good IT skills and ability to learn new systems.
  • Dedicated to the organisation’s cause and objectives.

Desirable

  • Experience of using financial software.

What difference will you make?

We are a small charity with no dedicated finance staff. Your support will help to ensure our financial health so we can continue to provide our much-valued service, and ease pressure on our volunteer trustees who can then spend more time fundraising to ensure the sustainability of the charity.

What's in it for the volunteer?

The role will suit a person who is working towards returning to work, gaining accountancy qualifications or a retired person seeking to use their skills to make a difference. You will join a small but committed group of volunteers supporting this well-established charity that provides an excellent service to disabled users from Reading, West Berkshire, Wokingham and South Oxfordshire.
