Opportunity description

Can you support our organisation with the creation, maintenance and updating of a budget, bank reconciliation, payments, payroll (2 staff), annual accounts, and other financial administration tasks?

The role

We are seeking a finance volunteer to support the organisation with the following tasks and responsibilities:


  • Draw up and maintain a budget for the organisation, working closely with the Co-Chairs, CEO and the board.
  • Maintain monthly accounts, making timely payments, maintaining accurate records of funds received for specific projects, and reconciling accounts with bank statements.
  • Run the payroll function for the small staff team.
  • Work closely with the auditors to draw up the annual accounts.
  • Offer financial administrative support once a month to the founder at our registered central London address

Person description

We are seeking someone who 


  • Shares our commitment to the values and aims of Preventable Surprises
  • Has strong finance skills, good strategic awareness, and an understanding of the context in which Preventable Surprises operates (or a willingness to learn more)
  • Understands the duties and responsibilities of a finance volunteer
  • Is a good communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, objective and independent and able to challenge in a supportive way.

What impact the opportunity will have

This support will free up the time of our Co-Chair to further support our work on fundraising and governance. It will also act as a support role to our new CEO.

Time commitment

Either in or out of office hours
