Welcome to Reach Volunteering. We are a community and registered charity that connects people, skills and good causes.

To apply for this role, and any other on our platform, you need to be based in the UK, have at least three years of experience using the skills you wish to volunteer in a professional capacity or have lived experience (for trustee roles). Read more about our criteria.

Do you have a passion for mental health and wellbeing and a talent for financial oversight? Suffolk User Forum is seeking a Finance Trustee to join our board and play a vital role in supporting our long-term financial health and sustainability.

What will you be doing?

We are looking to add new voices to our board of trustees. We need people passionate about mental health, and we particularly value those with lived experience, to help us ensure that the voices of service users, carers, and their families are at the heart of care.

We specifically need a Finance Trustee but would love to hear from people with experience in leadership, diversity and inclusion, information governance, HR, and fundraising.

What are we looking for?

The Finance Trustee will draw on their skills and experience to enhance the board’s discharge of its financial responsibilities. The post holder acts as the lead trustee in assisting the board to scrutinise financial reports. They support the board and CEO on good financial governance including systems, controls, reporting and monitoring, and advising the board on its reserves and investment policies.

Essential: Book-keeping or accountancy experience.

Desirable: Accountancy qualification or experience of charity finance.

We would like trustees to have local knowledge of services that fall under the NHS Suffolk and North East Essex Integrated Care Board and Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust footprint.

What difference will you make?

Becoming a trustee with Suffolk User Forum offers a unique opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of individuals affected by mental health challenges. You'll play a vital role in shaping the organisation's strategic direction, ensuring sustainability, and upholding its mission to empower service users and promote their voices. By contributing your skills and experience, you'll be part of a dedicated team working to improve mental health services and reduce stigma.  Moreover, the role provides personal and professional development opportunities, allowing you to gain valuable experience in governance, leadership, and the voluntary sector.

Before you apply

Please apply through Reach in the first instance. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a short application form and submit a CV.
