Welcome to Reach Volunteering. We are a community and registered charity that connects people, skills and good causes.

The Treasurer will hold the organisation to account for the Charity’s finances and financial vision, maintain financial control and ensure we comply with our legal responsibilities as a registered charity. 

What will you be doing?

The Treasurer will be expected to work with a transparent and clear financial process. During meetings they will provide an oversight of the following: annual accounts; preparation for the annual budget & longer-term financial forecasts and ensure that appropriate financial policies e.g reserves are in place. They will chair the finance sub group (made up of paid staff or volunteers) to provide leadership but also delegate to these individuals to provide an opportunity for those with no experience of finance matters to develop their knowledge and skills.

We want to hear from a wide range of people that are excited about this invigorating and dynamic role. You will be at the very heart of the charity and its work, liaising with a team of like minded people.

Role responsibilities 

  • To oversee and present budgets, accounts and financial statements. 
  • To liaise with designated staff about financial matters. 
  • To ensure that appropriate accounting procedures and controls are in place. 
  • To ensure compliance with relevant legislation e.g. Companies and Charity legislation. 
  • To present financial reports to the committee. 
  • To make a presentation of the accounts at the annual general meeting (AGM). 

Essential skills (in addition to wider trustee skills)

- Accountability and good time keeping 

- Forward thinking

- Enjoys planning and preparation 

- Passion for charity work and the organisations  works 

- Good understanding and effective use of IT Skills - Excel, Zoom, Word 

Desirable skills/experience

- Qualification or Experience of financial control and budgeting. 

Although we have mentioned some desired skills, you most certainly don’t have to have 20 years of experience and several degrees to be an effective member of the board. If there are areas of the job that would interest you but would need additional support, please let us know and we can arrange for basic training and courses free of charge.
