This is a role that is expected to grow dependent on the capability of the volunteer. 1 hour per week is the minimum expectation for typical duties.

Finance Director role supporting the redevelopment of a long-standing community centre during this exciting time of change which will include a transition from a CIC to charitable status.

What will you be doing?

As a Director of the Elmscroft Board, the Finance Director will be responsible for ensuring that the Company meets its both its statutory obligations and those to the Community. 

Directors are to carry out their duties to promote the Objects of the Company as defined in the Articles of Association.

In addition to Statutory responsibilities, the Finance Director will:

1. Provide Financial Updates to the Board with a monthly P&L summary report

2. Oversee Trading Accounts and maintain the Company Bank Account

3. Manage the production of Company Accounts and Annual Audits 

4. Prepare an annual operating budget for acceptance by the Board ahead of each new financial year.

5. Monitoring, regulating and authorising all petty cash outgoings as required.

6. Advise the Board on the financial implications / viability of their proposed decisions

7. Making recommendations to the Board on financial controls in order to maintain financial best practice and regulatory compliance.

8. Monitor, review and recommend any changes to hire charges and concessions.

9. Manage any volunteer Financial Assistants

10. Advise on matters of Tax as they relate to the business activities.

11. Monitor and report on monies spent from grants and other external funding.

12. Advise on and plan for the financial implications of transitioning to charitable status.

Delegated Authority - The Financial Director will have no delegated authority to enter into contracts or commit financial expenditure without the prior agreement of the Board.

What are we looking for?

10 years experience in a finance management role, with a preferable 5 years in a senior leadership position.

Experience of financial reporting requirements for UK registered companies, preferably experience of requirements for charitable organisations.

Preparation of operating budgets and P&L accounts.

Experience of working with and managing volunteers is preferred but not essential.
