We are looking for a Finance Assistant to provide reliable support to our small finance team.

What will you be doing?

We are a small charity who rely mostly on volunteers to carry out our financial processes and weekly checks. In order to stay in line with financial regulations, we require separation of duties. Therefore, we are looking for an individual who is reliable, trustworthy and a good communicator. This role would not require too much of someone's time however we require bi-weekly check-ins to keep payments etc on time.

We are looking for someone with a finance background who has used digital accounting software programs such as Xero or QuickBooks. We are also looking for someone who understands the importance of following protocols, compliance and closed-loop communication.

Responsibilities:

  • Bi-weekly checking of Teams channel for updates from finance team
  • Using Xero accounting software for checking and accepting bills
  • Setting up payments on online banking platform
  • Close-loop communication with finance team with completed tasks
  • Checking of purchase orders
  • Being aware of budgets related to each payment

There is scope for the role's responsibilities to be increased after some time if the applicant is interested. We are a small friendly team who are ready to welcome in a new member. If you do not have experience using the Xero platform, we will be able to offer you training to get up to the required level for this role. However, experience using one of the other accounting software's is preferable.

What are we looking for?

  • Excellent team player
  • Have a background in finance
  • Experience in Xero software and/or other financial software
  • Experience developing/implementing good financial practice
  • Have excellent written and communication skills
  • Must be able to commit 1 - 3 hours a week

What difference will you make?

This is an opportunity to work with a small but dynamic team who are passionate about ‘helping the world to feel a safer place for children with developmental trauma’ resulting from adverse childhood experiences. You will be bringing new ideas and possibilities to our organisation.

You will make a huge difference to our charity as we are a very small team currently.

Before you apply

You will be offered an initial informal Teams discussion with the Charity Administrator to explore your interest in the role and how we might work together. All of our appointments are subject to our Safer Recruitment Policy which includes the need for 2 references, one personal and one professional.
