What will you be doing?

Role Overview: We are seeking a passionate Volunteer Filmmaker to join our dynamic team. You will work closely with our Head of Content to brainstorm, develop, film, edit, and deliver high-quality content tailored for our dementia-friendly audience. This role offers a unique opportunity to enhance your knowledge of accessible filmmaking while contributing to a meaningful cause.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Head of Content to generate innovative ideas for dementia-friendly videos.
  • Participate in the planning and development of content concepts.
  • Film and edit video content, ensuring it meets our accessibility standards.
  • Assist in the delivery of final content to My Life TV, hosted by Vimeo OTT.
  • Engage in regular team meetings to discuss progress and share creative input.

  • Proficient in video filming and editing (experience with software like Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro is a plus).

  • Passionate about making a difference and improving the lives of those with dementia.
  • Previous experience in accessible or dementia-friendly content creation is a bonus, but not required.

What are we looking for?

Skills:

  1. Video Filming and Editing: Proficiency in filming and editing videos using software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar tools.
  2. Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with camera equipment, lighting techniques, sound recording, and other technical aspects of video production.
  3. Creativity: A creative mindset to generate innovative ideas and approaches for creating dementia-friendly content.
  4. Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members, convey ideas, and engage with stakeholders.

Experience:

  1. Video Production: Previous experience in video production, preferably in a similar role creating content for specific audiences or causes.
  2. Dementia Awareness: Basic understanding of dementia and its impact on individuals and their families, or a willingness to learn and become familiar with dementia-friendly practices.
  3. Collaboration: Experience working collaboratively in a team environment, sharing ideas, giving and receiving feedback, and contributing to a shared vision.

  2. Empathy: Ability to empathise with the experiences and needs of individuals with dementia, approaching content creation with sensitivity and understanding.
