Are you a proactive fundraiser who can support and develop our fundraising strategy? Do you want to make a real difference? Use existing skills and grow your knowledge? Join our committed and passionate team!

What will you be doing?

Our charity delivers online and face-to-face training and projects to a range of schools, services and settings. We are urgently looking to develop a small dedicated team of fundraisers who will be able to help develop a fundraising strategy, create fundraising opportunities and assist with a donor journey from creation to inception. Could you be part of that team? Or even it's creator and leader?

Even though we are a small charity we want to make a big difference and would like to draw on your experience in the fundraising world to help us to grow and make even more of a difference to children and families affected by developmental trauma from adverse childhood experiences (ACEs).

You will be working closely with the charity’s founder and CEO.

We would like the team to:

  • Develop new and imaginative fundraising opportunities
  • Project manage fundraising opportunities, from inception all the way through to evaluation
  • Recruit and promote supporters and volunteers to increase our fundraising opportunities
  • Develop a simple donor journey and stewardship plans to further engage supporters and give them opportunities to support the charity in other ways. This will include crafting the copy for materials.
  • Assisting with researching and approaching corporate entities for event sponsorships, partnerships, and donations from corporate foundations
  • Writing emails and speaking with potential partners about the work of Adenydd with the aim of securing funds for the organisation
  • Maintain accurate records including making updates from our fundraising platforms  incl. JustGiving The Big Give
  • Take responsibility for ensuring donors and supporters are thanked, responded to and stewarded in a personalised way.
  • Regularly review and update the thanking materials and processes for donors and make amends and improvements to ensure all donors and supporters are thanked quickly and warmly.
  • Keeping in contact with past donors and fundraisers and assisting in finding new donors and fundraisers
  • Communicating with past fundraisers and encourage them to consider fundraising again in the future
  • Provide reports and updates to the CEO and/or Trustee Board as needed on income, donors and fundraising plans
  • Liaise with colleagues in other teams as needed to develop and promote your work, eg website team, finance team

What are we looking for?

What are we looking for?

As a small charity our fundraising network has been small. However we now need experienced fundraisers to open up a wider range of fundraising opportunities in a planned and co-ordinated way, including maximising opportunities that arise. We are looking for people who have:

  • A passion for fundraising for small charities
  • Able to work flexibly on your own and as part of a small team with enthusiasm and commitment
  • Good initiative and ability to work with little direct supervision but will ask when help is needed
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with a diverse range of individuals, supporters, donors and volunteers
  • Excellent organisational skills, with experience of proactive planning, managing deadlines and prioritising effectively
  • Good computer skills and a willingness to be contacted via email and/or video chat
  • Ability to write compelling, warm and engaging copy
  • Ability to quickly understand the needs of our team and organisation (we are not expecting in-depth knowledge of developmental trauma)
  • Can ask key questions to enable us to clarify requirements
  • Experience of developing and implementing fundraising strategies
  • Experience of writing funding proposals and working in fundraising would be an advantage
  • Experience of successfully motivating and inspiring a range of donors/supporters
  • Open to feedback
  • Knowledge of corporate fundraising techniques, sponsorship, donations, and marketing would be an advantage
  • An ability to present to and engage potential partners/sponsors in a compelling way
  • Maintaining strict confidentiality
  • A commitment to the objectives and core values of Adenydd

What difference will you make?

You will join our small charity during an exciting point in our development and your knowledge and experience will be critical to our success. You will have a key role in ensuring we can maintain our existing services whilst growing our infrastructure and capacity to allow us to fulfil our aims and also become a sustainable charity.

What's in it for the volunteer?

You would be a part of our small, friendly, passionate and forward-thinking charity team. You would have a key role in supporting and developing our fundraising strategy, creating fundraising opportunities and writing grant applications. This is a fantastic opportunity for you to make a real difference to some of the most vulnerable children in society through enabling Adenydd to educate and support those around them.

A few more details

We have the flexibility to accommodate various patterns of working. A set number of hours per week is less important than getting a job done well and when it is needed. A good work/life balance and self-care are important so we want to work with you to establish a way of working together that meets everyone's needs and enables us all to feel fulfilled with the right amount of challenge to stretch and develop whilst also knowing you have support when needed.

Before you apply

You will be offered an initial informal Teams discussion with the CEO to explore your interest in the role and how we might work together. A further discussion may take place if we both agree you might be a good fit for the charity and the role. All of our appointments, whether volunteer or paid, are subject to our Safer Recruitment Policy which includes the need for 2 references.
