We are seeking passionate and experienced individuals to join our Board of Trustees. As a trustee, you will play a key role in shaping the future of Trans Pride Brighton and Hove.

What will you be doing?

We are looking for individuals with experience at a trustee or senior leadership level within the charity or non-profit sectors. With the 11 years of Pride event growth we have experienced, and since opening the UK's first trans focused community centre, we have outgrown our status as a small charity and are looking for people who can help us navigate the next phase of our charity.

Please note we welcome applications from the trans, non-binary, intersex and gender-variant community. Further to this, we recognise that those from Black trans communities, and non-Black People of Colour are under-represented in our team, as well as those with disabilities. As a course of positive action in order to improve the community representation in our team, we actively encourage applications from these under-represented groups. We also recognise that cisgender allies may not be subject to the same structural inequalities which affect the TNBI community so we welcome applications from people who would like to step up and support our charity with time or expertise.

We are seeking:

Essential

  • A commitment to Trans Pride Brighton’s mission and values.
  • Experience in governance, leadership, or trustee roles.
  • Knowledge of charity law and best practices in nonprofit governance.
  • Strategic thinking and decision-making skills.
  • A collaborative approach, able to work effectively as part of a diverse board.
  • Lived experience as a trans, non-binary, or gender-diverse person, or a strong allyship with these communities.

Desirable

  • Skills and experience in one or more areas of non-executive governance and management e.g. strategic planning, understanding of HR issues and safeguarding, experience of Trusts or other grant giving bodies, particularly fundraising.

What difference will you make?

As a Trustee, you will provide strategic guidance, governance oversight, and support for the charity's growth and development. Working closely with the Chair and other trustees, you will ensure the charity remains financially sustainable and delivers on its mission whilst operating in line with its constitution and the Charity Commission's guidance and best practice.
