We are excited to announce an opportunity for an experienced and passionate Drupal Developer to join our dynamic team on a volunteer basis.

What will you be doing?

In this role, you will be working with LocalGov Drupal, a pivotal tool in public sector web development, contributing to a collaborative, open-source community.


  • Developing, testing, and implementing new features in our Drupal-based system
  • Collaborating with design and research teams across the public sector to create user-centric web solutions
  • Actively participating in a community of developers, sharing ideas, best practices, and innovative solutions
  • Troubleshooting and resolving issues within the Drupal environment
  • Consistently enhancing our codebase and contributing to the wider open-source community

What are we looking for?


  • Strong experience with Drupal, including custom module development, key contributed modules, and core API
  • Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively within a team
  • Passion for the open-source community and public sector development
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to commit to a regular volunteer schedule

Given the complexity and seniority of the Drupal Developer role, coupled with potential responsibilities for guiding other volunteer developers, we expect a commitment of around 10-12 hours per week. Nevertheless, we can provide some flexibility to adapt to your personal availability.
