The Executive Director provides overall leadership, strategic guidance and oversight of the International Youth Academy.

What will you be doing?

The International Youth Academy shall be established with the ultimate goal of identifying and nurturing future generations of young leaders. The IYA will invite young people to join hands-on, highly experiential leadership development programmes designed specifically for promising young leaders. The academy will provide youth with a positive, uplifting, and challenging atmosphere. That will empower youth communities to contribute to a sustainable future for us all.

The Executive Director (ED) reports to the Executive Office through the Director, Bureau of Programme Support. ED provides overall leadership, strategic guidance and oversight of the International Youth Academy. She/he provides oversee capacity building, enhancing coherence, partnering tools, advice and guidance, and policy and communications support for the academy project.

Responsibilities

(A) Administrative duties:

 • Provide overall leadership and take management responsibility for successful plan, design and oversight the implementation of the project; 

• Provide inputs in identification of linkages between the IYA and other potential partners for maximizing the efficient and effective use of resources; 

• Build, motivate and lead a high performing team consisting of programme personnel, expert consultants, service providers, etc.

(B) Coordinate the initiation and the implementation of the project in compliance with the project specific objectives, activities and expected outputs by:

• Ensuring a quality achievement of the project outputs in line with corporate standards; 

• Designing a detailed work and activities plan and regularly monitoring its implementation; • Identifying project implementation partners and stakeholders; 

• Following-up on the implementation of the contracts, assessing the quality of services provided and requesting disbursement of funds; 

(C) Ensure the monitoring and evaluation of project implementation and the reporting on project activities by: 

• Presenting aggregate strategic analysis on project performance based on commitment of indicators and implementation of activities as well as output delivery; 

• Regularly monitoring the financial status of the project and promptly developing budget revision if needed;

What are we looking for?

Minimum of 10-Years of experience and results preferred in education role, development, communications, youth issues, sports, women empowerment, youth-led organizations or another relevant field.
