Based in Leicester Square, we need a qualified English tutor to teach our beginners class for two hours a week on a Monday morning. 

What will you be doing?

We would like a Beginners ESOL tutor to join our small team of dedicated English tutors who support vulnerable refugees and asylum seekers to learn the English skills required to navigate life in the UK.  The lesson takes place on Monday morning between 10.30 and 12.00.  You will plan and prepare lessons that are appropriate for this group who are mainly (but not only) from French-speaking African countries.  More details are in the role description.

What are we looking for?

Essential

  • A recognised teaching qualification in ESOL or a related field.
  • Demonstrable experience in teaching ESOL at pre-beginner levels.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to design and implement lesson plans that cater to the specific needs of pre-beginner learners.
  • Sensitivity to cultural differences and the challenges faced by learners in adapting to a new language environment.

Desirable

  • Experience in a multicultural teaching environment
  • Familiarity with digital learning tools and resources such as Teams and Outlook
  • Experience working or volunteering with refugees, asylum seekers or other vulnerable adults
