Ealing Law Centre Library Committee needs you!

Hanwell Community Library 's  book lending service and activities are delivered by volunteers. We welcomed 15,000 visitors in 2022 .

What will you be doing?

We have been running a programme of events and clubs since we opened in 2020, having taken over the library from the Council. Now we want build on those successes and take to the next level the activities and services we offer to the community. For that reason, we are looking for new members to join the Ealing Law Centre Library Committee.

The Committee reports to the Ealing Law Centre Board which runs the library building and is responsible for the management of library personnel. The Committee is responsible for:

  • representing the views of volunteers, users, and the wider community
  • identifying opportunities and challenges; and
  • helping to develop, deliver and monitor a Library Action Plan

We are looking for people who are:

  • interested in the future development of the library and what it can offer as a community hub
  • able to take part in early evening meetings around six times per year.
  • willing to have occasional responsibility for overseeing activities in the building including opening up/closing. This will enable us to offer as many activities as possible on Saturdays and in the evenings.

We would expect Ealing Law Centre Library Committee members to work in line with the principles of Seven Principles of public life, those being selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty, and leadership.

What are we looking for?

We would be particularly interested to hear from anyone whose skills mean they are well-suited to helping us with one or more of the following:

  • Business planning
  • Income generation
  • Writing grant applications
  • Community needs analysis and engagement
  • Marketing and communications including social media
  • Making links with local businesses, voluntary organisations, schools, and other statutory services

What difference will you make?

Your help and expertise will enable us to adapt and survive, to scope new possibilities, activities and ways of working.

Your fundraising activities will help us to continue to develop, thrive and make our long term growth sustainable.
