What will you be doing?

The Fédération Internationale de la Jeunesse, in English ‘International Youth Federation (IYF)’, is an international non-profit youth organization network governed by the present Statutes and the Swiss Civil Code. It is politically neutral, and non-denominational, aiming to empower youth worldwide. 

The IYF Department of Public Information (DPI) is responsible for developing and implementing the IYF Global Communications Strategy, strengthening support for the IYF by promoting key messages and strategies on priority youth issues, implementing global campaigns and coordinating communications and public information activities between headquarters, regional administrations and member counties. 

The Director of Department of Public Information (DPI) is responsible for creating and implementing the IYF’s global communications strategy to ensure the work of the organization is responsibly, meaningfully and powerfully communicated to global audiences in multiple languages.

 

Responsibilities

  • Directs the DPI, including Media & Communications Team, Language Services, and Global Marketing, and contributes to the overall management of the Department's activities and operations. 
  • Contributes to the Department's strategies and policies by introducing innovative thinking, participating in various teams, preparing documents on policy issues, and acting, in an advisory capacity to the USG/SG. 
  • Provides leadership on the planning, development and execution of communications strategies across platforms and using a range of tools, as well as on organizational restructuring and change management initiatives. 
  • Builds relationships and fosters interactions with partners to promote understanding of the IYF’s priorities and issues through the integration of communications messages and campaigns between headquarters and member countries. 
  • Formulates and implements the substantive work programme of the Department under his/her supervision, determining priorities, and allocates resources for the completion of outputs and their timely delivery. 
  • Plays a key role in Senior Management meetings; chairs meetings, seminars, etc., on substantive-related issues; works collaboratively with senior communications official across the organization and acts as its representative at international, regional, inter-agency meetings, seminars and conference.

What are we looking for?

Experience and results preferred in public information, journalism, programme management role, training, knowledge management, development, communications, international relations, capacity building, sport, women empowerment, public administration, public affairs, political science, international relations, economic affairs, social science, business administration, law, development studies, youth-led organizations or another relevant field.
