Legal Support Unit (LSU) provides advice and support on internal and external legal matters related to the Organization.
The International Youth Federation is an international non-profit youth organizations network governed by the present Statutes and the Swiss Civil Code. It is neutral politically, and non denominational, aim to empower youth worldwide.
The core function of the IYF Executive Office (IYFEO) is to provide the support services needed to enable the IYF Senior Management Team (SMT) to perform their leadership roles effectively. The IYFEO tasked with the responsibility to provide policy and programmatic support to IYF´s activities across HQ Bureaux and Regional Administrations.
Reporting to the Secretary-General through the Chief of Staff, The Director Legal Support Unit, Bureau of Management (LSU/BOM), provides legal services of the highest possible standard for the IYF. The Director provides legal advice to headquarters units, regional centers and country teams, on all aspects of the mandate and operational issues, covering administrative, corporate and institutional legal matters.
Responsibilities
• Legal status, authorities, privileges and immunities, and relationships with IYF governing bodies, programme country and partner governments;
• Corporate, commercial and private law matters, including legal support to the organization’s financial and procurement operations;
• Provide the highest quality advice to the IYF Senior Management Team on legal and related policy matters;
• Prepare and/or negotiate in coordination with relevant regional and central bureaus and country teams, as appropriate, standard basic assistance agreements with countries, host country agreements, office agreements and other partnership agreements to support IYF’s objectives and activities in accordance with existing policies and procedures, and provide advice on questions of interpretation and implementation of such instruments;
• Provide leadership and legal advice towards ongoing alignment and implementation of evolving programme initiatives, strategies and operational practices, from the corporate, institutional and administrative law perspective;
• Promote knowledge in IYF of the applicable legal framework and compliance therewith through online legal content and facilitation of live learning events for staff and managers at all levels;
• Lead and manage and ensure development of an innovative and effective team of legal advisors; and
• Prepare annual work plans that are aligned to BoM and corporate priorities ensuring engagement of staff.
Minimum of three-years of experience and results preferred in law, civil law, administrative law or another relevant field.
