We are growing, from 1 director and changing our legal structure to a CIC. We started as a small project in 2019 and now have 2 community fridges and have saved over 100 tonnes of good food from being wasted in West Sussex.

What will you be doing?

We are looking for a Director with strong Health & Safety experience to:

  • Attend regular Board meetings (frequency to be determined)
  • Have regular H&S meetings with Community Fridge Co-ordinators
  • Overall responsibility and compliance of the Fare Divide’s H&S matter making sure volunteers are aware other importance and follow safety processes.
  • Conduct/organise relevant health and safety training for staff as required, including first aid and fire safety.
  • Conduct all “risk assessments” as required by legislation and are reviewed at relevant intervals and to maintain records of the same.
  • Conduct & carryout compliance audits of Fare Divide Community Fridges, report on findings and manage through to completion.
  • Carry out all risk assessments and special assessments for each Community Fridge as required including manual handling, lone working, young/ lone working etc.
  • Identify, co-ordinate and manage first aid and fire safety representative for Fare Divide.
  • To recommend & implement control measures and advise on PPE to volunteers.
  • To carry out investigations into all accidents and near-miss incidents.
  • Keep up to date with changes in current legislation and implement such changes where relevant.
  • Any other ad hoc health and safety duties as required.

  • Has the ability to quickly understand the changing needs/challenges faced by Fare Divide
  • Has accurate and up to date knowledge and experience of Health and Safety and any other relevant frameworks
  • Good leadership skills; management experience; integrity; honesty; understanding of data privacy standards
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, thorough understanding of business principles and practices
  • Superior attention to detail, organisational skills, planning skills, problem-solving skills
