What will you be doing?

Main responsibilities

  • Provide thought leadership on the role of digital in our Foundation’s marketing communications,  service delivery and operations and help build and implement this vision.
  • Highlight the opportunities and the risks of digital, in terms of our strategy in general, and in reference to funding communities, in particular.
  • Translate the risks and opportunities of digital for other trustees, to enable the board as a whole to engage in an informed way.
  • Champion the use of data in board discussions, and in driving the delivery and improvement of funding, marketing and operations.
  • Draw on your networks to support our work.
  • Help ensure that the executive / operations teams have the digital capabilities that they need to implement the strategy.

What are we looking for?

  • Successful track record in digital marketing, product development or transforming operational services
  • Experience of working at a senior management / leadership level.
  • Demonstrable and practical experience of delivering transformational change to business technologies and processes, to deliver cost savings and service improvements for customers.
  • Experience of current agile project management practices, open source, cloud platforms and digital services.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and willingness to take collective responsibility for the governance of our charity.
  • Ability to work at a strategic and visionary level whilst understanding the detail and complexities of delivery, and the influencing skills needed to bring staff and stakeholders along with plans.
  • Strong communicator.
  • Ability to analyse risks and opportunities and take a balanced approach to both.
  • Extensive networks, and a willingness to draw on contacts as appropriate.
  • Long term commitment to Bedfordshire

Bedfordshire and Luton Community Foundation is a dynamic, social change organisation aiming to connect people who care, with local causes that matter. We change lives through our programmes of funding and rather than being a traditional grantmaker, we have evolved our mission by taking on a community leadership role, highlighting how poverty and inequality affect local residents and then facilitating the solutions through our convening, supporting and funding.

By supporting us to help understand digital technology and how it can help our mission, you will be contributing to making us a more responsive funder and supporting local charities. We fund many small grassroots organisations, carrying out vital work in local neighbourhoods and making our work more visible is they key to greater engagement with our communities. If we can highlight the work and the causes that we support more effectively, we hope to generate more funding to assist these organisations. In addition, we would like to review the ways and means with which we interact with out grantholders, to see if we can be more agile and increase our reach. Local charities carry out essential work at the coalface of communities and by supporting us to support them, you can create long lasting change,
