Support us build and grown our digital presence by setting up a digital communications strategy, creating branding guidelines and delivering training to social media volunteers, leaving a legacy of your support into the future. 

What will you be doing?

Key tasks include… 

  • Developing a social media presence for BCLT, on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram
  • Creating & planning a monthly content calendar, to spread key messages, updates and content. 
  • Creating a branding guidelines document
  • Creating and delivering best practice training sessions to volunteers for the ongoing running and maintenance of social media accounts. 
  • Liaise with other BCLT Trustees and members to understand the key messages and objectives of digital engagement, find potential and relevant content and stories 
  • Scheduling of posts on Facebook / Twitter to promote the work of BCLT and responding to comments on our social media. 
  • To carry out an induction session and any training necessary for the role. 

This is a remote volunteer role, and the timings and hours can be flexible around your other commitments. 

What are we looking for?

  • Experience of building a digital communication strategy including website content, social media presence and email correspondence
  • Experience in creating branding guidelines, to appropriately reflect the nature of the organisation
  • An excellent working knowledge of Facebook, Twitter & Instagram including setting up accounts, scheduling posts, responding appropriately to comments, creating appropriate and interesting content. 
  • Experience of using WordPress to manage website content
  • Excellent IT skills with the ability to use the internet, email and Microsoft Word 
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, with confidence in training others
  • Good time-keeping and reliability
  • Works well independently and as part of a team
  • An understanding of the importance of confidentiality and professionalism
  • Be positive, productive and have a passion to help local community charities

We are at the very beginning stages of building a digital profile and this role will make a significant and long-lasting impact in setting up a new strategy, guidelines and branding that we can take forwards into the future to maximise the meaningful work we can do in the local community.
