Use your Design experience to help us improve our visual communications. This is a great opportunity to push our charity’s boundaries and make a real difference in many areas of our work.

What will you be doing?

Tasks will include:

  • Updating and improving the images we use for social media, newsletters etc.
  • Making FreeUKG website more visually engaging (some potential to gain UX/UI experience here)
  • Help develop our branding / style guide
  • Create infographics to inform, engage and spread our message

What are we looking for?

You should have:

  • Access to a reliable device and internet connection, sufficient to carry out the work required for the role and able to hold Google Meet (Hangout) video calls.
  • Relevant skills and experience for the role.
  • An interest in family history would be a bonus!

What difference will you make?

We believe that EVERYONE has a right to access their family’s historical records for free. Barriers to this can have a massive impact on the marginalised in society who need access to records, for example, to establish their residency status. Help us to improve our services for family history researchers which will enable Free UK Genealogy to continue to provide FREE access to records for all, and not hide them behind paywalls.

What's in it for the volunteer?

Further develop your multimedia design and software skills, communication skills, working flexibly and remotely whilst also part of a friendly non-profit team.

Before you apply

If you express an interest in the role, we will invite you to complete a short application form just to give us some background. You will then be invited to an informal online call via Google Meet (was Hangouts) to chat about the volunteer work.
