As we are working on a very flexible schedule, the time commitment will be around (6-8 hours/week), but that may vary from week to another.

The Deputy Director, Programme Support is responsible for supporting IYF projects and programmes worldwide.

What will you be doing?

(A) Strategic Management of the Bureau of Programme Support:

  • Lead and manage the work on Bureau of Programme Support (BPS) within the GP to ensure optimization of resources and nurturing a culture of results and solutions orientation with the highest performance standards;
  • Co-lead on the annual work planning and strategic target setting for the BPS and ensure strategic guidance and advice on programme priorities, in close coordination with the Global Programme Manager and BPS Director;
  • Provide reliable intelligence and advice to the USG/ASGs of the GP on critical issues within the programme portfolio;
  • Act as Director of BPS, undertaking all decisions and representation responsibilities, in the absence of the Director; and
  • Represent BPS in Deputy-level coordination mechanisms on change management and other policy consultation mechanisms.


(B) Empowering the Global Programme Team

  • Support BPS Director in ensuring joined-up work, integrated approaches, staff release and a culture of cooperation across the GP and the rest of IYF;
  • Create an environment of team spirit and high motivation and provide coaching and mentoring to BPS staff.
  • Develop guidelines and principles to underpin a collaborative approach and culture in support of IYF’s programme capacity to ensure speed of support, provision of integrated substantive, innovative, strategic and operational resources when required;
  • Support the creation of the business process design, work plans, work flows and terms of reference for the BPS Team to leverage the full capacities and capabilities within the GP on programme-related issues; and
  • Deliver, through GP teams, the capacities for policy coherence to strengthen IYF’s ability to shape global programme on youth development and related policies.


(C) Partnerships, Representation and Advocacy for Resource Mobilization

  • Supervision of BPS teams’ staff and ensure that performance management assessments are carried out according to IYF procedures.
  • Forge partnerships and collaborates with bilateral, multilateral, emerging donors and IFI partners on youth empowerment issues; and
  • Ensure donor engagement on youth empowerment issues, including support to resource mobilization for programme response purposes.

A minimum of three-years of experience and results preferred in  programme management,  international development, youth empowerment role, development, communications, international relations, youth studies, sport, women empowerment, youth-led organizations or another relevant field.
